Dr. Niraj Kasat

Dr Niraj is an accomplished and trained Orthopedic & Joint Replacement surgeon. He specializes in minimally invasive and computer assisted knee and hip Replacement surgery. He did adult reconstruction fellowship at Tan Tock Seng hospital in Singapore. Thereafter he worked in Singapore at Changi general hospital in joint replacement and trauma division of orthopedic department for 3 years.

He was felicitated with best doctors award at Changi General Hospital in 2014. He has vast experience in managing orthopedic trauma involving pelvis-acetabulum fractures, polytrauma, open fractures, periprosthetic fractures and osteoporotic fractures. He has expertise in minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis for periarticular fractures and Ilizharow method used for infected non union and limb lengthening cases.

Dr Niraj Kasat is also trained spine Surgeon. He has done his advanced spine fellowship from Seoul, South Korea. He has expertise in doing spinal de compression, instrumentation and deformity correction surgeries.

Summary of Clinical and Teaching experience in Orthopedics

Working as Chief Joint replacement and Trauma surgeon

I was one of the orthopedic surgeons working in Adult Reconstruction and Trauma division. As a fellowship trained Arthroplasty surgeon; I regularly use to do hip and knee replacement surgeries. This hospital caters a large population around North-East region of Singapore. I was one of the senior Trauma surgeon managing polytrauma, pelvi-actabular and open fracture cases. Since Singapore has large geriatric population, I had good experience in hip fractures, periprosthetic and osteoporotic fractures. I was actively involved in AO teaching and was one of the faculties for AO trauma course held in Aug 2014. I was appointed as a clinical lecturer for undergraduate medical students by National University of Singapore. Orthopedic residents and medical students were posted with me for teaching. I was also involved in research projects of the department involving arthroplasty and trauma.

April 2008 – October 2012

Here I worked as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in Head quarter Railway Hospital in Mumbai. The hospital caters railway patients from all parts of India. My surgical work included hip and knee replacement surgery, traumatic and degenerative spine cases and trauma. I was appointed as one of the faculty teachers for DNB orthopaedic residency. I represented orthopaedic department for all annual meetings and was actively involved in taking lectures, seminars and organising workshops for residents.

Aug 2007 – April 2008

During this period I worked as a senior registrar. Here I manage all trauma cases with a special interest in deformity correction and application of ilizarow technique for infected nonunion of long bone fractures.
